Half way there: Measuring Our Success Since January 2024

Half the year has flown by, making it the perfect time to evaluate our progress since January. Back then, we kicked off the year with our blog post "Ignite Your Year: Seven Crucial Elements for an Amazing Beginning in 2024."  Now, as July is upon us, let’s reflect on how far we’ve come and how we can stay on track for the rest of the year.

Revisit Your Goals

In January, we set ambitious goals and also wrote down things we wanted God to do for us. How are these two sides shaping up? Have you achieved some, or are there areas where you've fallen short? Has He done some...or all?  Remember Proverbs 16:3: "Commit to the Lord whatever you do, and he will establish your plans." Reflect on your goals, realign your efforts, and stay committed to the path you’ve set.

Celebrate Your Wins

It’s important to celebrate your accomplishments, no matter how small they may seem. Every step forward is progress. King David said, "The Lord has done great things for us, and we are filled with joy." Allow yourself to feel joy and gratitude for what you’ve achieved so far. This positive vibes will fuel your motivation for the next half of the year.

Ways to Celebrate:

  • Treat yourself to something special – remember self-care is good for you.
  • Share your achievements with friends or family.
  • Appreciate the people who helped you to succeed.

Identify Obstacles

Consider the challenges you've faced so far. Obstacles are a natural part of any journey. Knowing this can help you develop strategies to overcome them in the future.

Common Obstacles:

  • Time management issues
  • Lack of resources or support
  • Unexpected life events

Adjust Your Plans

Life is unpredictable, and sometimes our initial plans need adjustments. Flexibility is key to maintaining progress. A wise man once said, "Many are the plans in a person’s heart, but it is the Lord’s purpose that prevails." Align your plans with your current reality and keep moving forward.

Seek Support and Guidance

You don't have to do life alone. Seek support from colleagues, friends, family, and mentors who can provide encouragement and guidance. Ecclesiastes 4:9-10 reminds us, "Two are better than one, because they have a good return for their labour: If either of them falls down, one can help the other up." Surround yourself with a supportive, positive community that lifts you and keeps you accountable.

Renew Your Commitment

As we move into the latter half of the year, renew your commitment to your goals, yourself, and to God. Put your hands in His hands, it's like dancing with Divinity; it takes two to tango; isn’t it? Proverbs 3:5-6 advises, "Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding; in all your ways submit to him, and he will make your paths straight."

Stay Flexible and Adaptable

Remember, the journey to achieving your goals is not always linear. Stay flexible and adaptable, ready to pivot when necessary. Embrace the twists and turns as part of the process and keep your eyes on the prize.

Conclusion

Evaluating mid-term progress is not just a check-in but a vital part of the journey. It's a time to reflect, celebrate, and adjust. Keep faith at the centre of your journey, trusting in the Lord to guide your steps. With renewed commitment and a clear vision, let’s continue to make 2024 an amazing year of growth and achievement.

Stay encouraged, stay focused, and keep moving forward. The best is yet to come!
